The Finish Line

We did it! The Eugene Marathon was yesterday and it was such a great experience.

The weather was perfect, our fellow runners were in great spirits and I felt strong. Meghan and I ran the race together and had a great time. We ran the entire 13.1 miles. I started to struggle a bit around mile 10, but pulled it together and finished strong.

My favorite momently definitely had to be seeing the finish line at Autzen Stadium... digging in deep for that last burst of energy and crossing the finish line, of course. And we finished faster than expected. I figured we would cross the finish line in two hours, 30 minutes but my final time was 2:23:30. I'm proud of my time--although the male winner of the full marathon finished running 26.2 miles in nearly the same time. We could actually hear the announcer and crowd cheering for him as we approached Autzen.

I had an amazing time running and I really felt like I was part of the whole Track Town running community. The race started next to Hayward Field--and it definitely got me excited about the upcoming Olympic Trials.

Special thanks to our cheering section at the finish line. It was awesome to see you guys there!
